House tour:


 


Homes from different decades since the Town’s founding will be open for architecture and history enthusiasts, featuring these sites:
  • House that predates the Town at 1404 Tenth Street .  Owners: Mr. and Mrs. Bob Kassel.
  • Oldest brick house in Town at 2301 Lee Avenue .  Owners:  Mr. and Mrs. John Daniel.
  • Late Victorian style at 1711 Lunenburg Avenue .  Owners:  Mr. and Mrs. Seth Seagroves.
  • Home of former Mayor and Mrs. Harry A. Wellons at 1716 Fifth Street Owners: Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bender.
  • Home of Judge and Mrs. William L. Wellons at 1600 13th Street .
  • Home of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Wright, Sr., at 1904 Needham Drive . Owners: Del./M Tommy Wright, Jr.
  • Home of Clerk of Court and Mrs. Gordon Erby at 2186 Poorhouse Road .
  • Home of Mayor Carol and Mr. Gregory Dean Watson at 2545 Jefferson Avenue .
  • Garden of Commonwealth’s Attorney and Mrs. Robert Clement at 2421 Sixth Street .



Railroad sites:

§         “The Railroad House” at 2605 Nottoway Blvd. , where you will find an impressive collection of railroad memorabilia owned by Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Mattox.

§         Virginian caboose #342, located in the Town’s Railroad Park , with its railroad memorabilia, including a scale model of the old Victoria station.

 
Museum and educational sites:
 


§         The People’s Community Center, at 1021 Tidewater Avenue , a site on the State’s “Civil Rights in Education Heritage Trail.”

§         Victoria High School that operated from 1920 until 1966 at the corner of Eighth Street and Lee Avenue ; houses memorabilia from the school and surrounding area.

 
Uptown Coffee Café on Main St. will be open with its many old photos and memorabilia.


 


Many of the Town’s churches will have


open houses on Sunday, October 4.
